This portal was launched in January 2006. It serves as a starting
and information point for technologies and standards related to interoperability issues especially for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Currently the main focus hereby is on:
Universal Business Language (UBL) -
UBL is an international open standard providing electronic business
documents patterns (mainly for the order-to-invoice procurement cycle).
UBL is owned by OASIS. For the ABILITIES project we concentrate on
version 2.0.
Business Process Management (BPM)
– there is a vision that business people are enabled to just draw some
charts, press a button and a ready to use application will be
constructed from existing services. This is just a vision but first
steps are done. Newcomers in this area are overwhelmed with acronymes
and information. We want to provide a first orientation in this jungle.
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
- An ESB is a standards-based integration platform. It combines
messaging, data transformation, web services and routing in an Service
Oriented Architecture (SOA).
The portal originally served as the Technology and Standards Watch Portal of the EU-Project called ABILITIES. You can find more information about the ABILITIES project press here .
