Note:

Since July 2008 the UBL TC moved their UBL Support Page officially into a UBL Community Site under http://ubl.xml.org . This is a community build site where everybody is free to contribute. We therefore decided to provide our input to that site and to stop maintaining our own UBL pages any more.

However, for archival purposes you still can find our old content here. Please keep in mind that the content might be outdated in the meantime.

-> please go to http://ubl.xml.org for latest community based information about UBL!

It is an Eclipse Plug-In. To run it you will need at least a Java Runtime Environment (JRE). We received an error when we tried it with JRE 1.4.2. With JRE 1.5 it worked fine. During starting the tool there might come an error message saying that the introduction file is missing. However, the tool starts anyway:-) The editor also includes a validation (right mouse click) against the schema (informing you if mandatory elements are missing). See screenshots below (click to enlarge):

  • UBL XSL library by - Crane
Crane Softwrights Ltd. provides a free stylesheet library to transform UBL 1.0 documents to PDF, HTML or other files. Depending on the transformation you want to do, you will need to download additional XSLT 1.0 processor (e.g. saxon, but not higher than 6.5.5!!!!), XSL-FO 1.0 processor or Ibex Signature (by Visual Programming Limited). Please see detailed descriptions in the documentation coming with the library.
Comment by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it : The HTML generation using saxon 6.5.5 worked fine without major effort. I personally had problems with PDF generation (and no time to go on). However, the people from TXT-Solutions managed it. ... so, it functions!

  • UBL Java Formatter - by Ambrosoft
Ambrosoft provides a free Java formatter that implements the Crane UBL stylesheets as a single executable jar file. The Ambrosoft UBL transformer runs on any Java platform (including Personal Java, available on some PDAs) and will transform any UBL 1.0 document instance into either an FO file for further processing by an FO-aware application or directly into HTML that can be displayed or printed out using an ordinary web browser.
Comment by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it : I did not managed to run this Java formatter. The only output I received was:
Gregor XSLT Engine - version 1.1 Copyright (C) Ambrosoft, Inc. http://www.ambrosoft.com
Crane's UBL XSLT Stylesheet Library - version 20041006-1500z Copyright (C) Crane Softwrights Ltd. http://www.CraneSoftwrights.com/links/res-ubla.htm
There was no error message or output given. I tried it with different JREs.

  • UBL Schema Reader - by GEFEG
GEFEG provides a tool to explore the UBL 1.0 schema and data models.
Comment by This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it : Very easy and nice, but except exploring there is nothing you can do with it. … but still useful;-)

  • UBL inter-schema helper (UBLish) - by SoftML
Universal Business Language inter-schema helper v1.0.10 is an XPS script written to generate UBL 1.0-committee-draft schema files from a given set of spreadsheets that describe the corresponding schema, and also to reverse the generation process by generating spreadsheet descriptions from a given set of UBL 1.0-cd schema files. The UBL TC used this tool to generate the beta version of UBL 1.0. For newer versions of UBL, especially for UBL 2.0, GEFEG takes the responsibility to generate the XML schema files for UBL.
